Upgrading your hard drive

I was considering souping up my laptop with an external 200 GB hard drive. However, now that I've seen Hitachi's 32 Petabyte Array I'm thinking about waiting.

To put things in perspective:

  • 1 Petabyte = 1024 Terabytes
  • 1 Terabyte = 1024 Gigabytes
  • 1 Gigabyte = 1024 Megabytes

That's crazy! That's like having 167,772 of the measly 200 GB hard drives. I'm getting one.

Why would you purchase a 200 GB drive for that old bucket of a laptop?

I got a spiffy new Toshiba laptop with an 80 GB hard drive, DVD+-/RW, and a 2.8ghz P4. How is hurricane season treating you?
