Poor dead artists
Philip K. Dick inspired so many sci-fi movies it will blow your mind. It started with Blade Runner and goes on from there, but amazingly it all started after his death. In all fairness he should've been a wealthy man, but he died, like so many influential artists, relatively poor. His books were the inspiration behind Blade Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report, and the upcoming Ben Aflect flick, Paycheck. I'm tempted to check out his book, Divine Invasion, where God ("Yah") gets freed from his prison planet and comes back to retake Earth.
