I had the pleasure of completely reformatting the hard drive of a computer which was completely taken over by spyware, viruses, and trojans today. The extent to which it was controlled was completely amazing. Someone installed VNC software on it which allowed a remote hijacker to completely take over the system. I was forced to rip half of the files out of the System32 folder and quarantine them to make it work at all; it was using a script to close my firewall every time I opened it.

For a long time I was skeptical of Windows XP, but now I really like it. I'm installing it on my system next week.
